
Mark BonhamMark Bonham comes to SageCreek with over 20 years of experience working as a trusted advisor to high-tech/high-growth companies and the venture investors that support them. Most of his work was in California’s Silicon Valley, but he has also advised successful companies in his current home state of Utah (WordPerfect, LANDesk, Novell, Ancestry.com, Sonic Innovations), as well as growth companies in New England, Washington, New Mexico and Texas. Currently, he not only advises management teams, directors and investors, but also plays an active role as a director and committee chair of software company SolarWinds, Inc. (NYSE: SWI) based in Austin, Texas.
Mark has been “in the trenches” on hundreds of business formations, venture capital financings, IPOs, mergers and strategic transactions worth more than $10 billion and logged endless hours in boardrooms and executive suites addressing the opportunities and challenges of rapidly evolving business. Since participating in the founding of SageCreek Partners, Mark has advised and assisted companies on preparing for and obtaining investments, setting product and marketing strategies, completing executive transitions, making best use of board and management talents, protecting intellectual property, providing equity incentives to employees, structuring licensing transactions, and determining legal strategy. He served as an advisor to the seller in a recently completed exit transaction for a SageCreek client.
After earning a degree in economics with high honors from Brigham Young University, Mark graduated from Harvard Law School and practiced law for 20 years with the widely respected Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati based in Silicon Valley, California where he was a partner and served on or chaired internal committees for Recruiting, Knowledge Management, Compensation, Investments and Technology.
More recently Mark headed The Venture Practice at Ray Quinney & Nebeker, one of Salt Lake City’s largest and most-respected law firms. Mark has received multiple “Band 1″ ratings by Chambers USA, “AV” (best) ratings by Martindale, listings by SuperLawyers and inclusions to the Legal Elite. Best Lawyers named him as Utah’s Lawyer of the Year in Corporate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions in 2009 and 2010, respectively. He enjoys working with the SageCreek companies and serving on company boards as well as time with family, snowmobiling in Utah’s beautiful backcountry and dragging along a camera almost anywhere.
